I played this game 45 years ago! (The 1st dungeon crawl ever made, I think.) And never completed it... And now that it is remade with the exact same mazes and some very nice improvements and graphics, I will finally be able to finish this game before I die. And then my life will be complete... Sweet! I win! Finally... Very satisfying! Hmmm. Now what's next?

If you can appreciate Wizardry for what it is and when it came from, this had the potential to be a decent modernization of the classic. Unfortunately it's been abandoned by the devs and left with bugs that were apparently reported and known about 2 years ago. There hasn't been an update since 2024. On a mechanical and technical level this is a really well done port of the first Wizardry game. The art is well done and does a good job of providing a "face" to everything instead of having it be a white blobs in the vague shape of a fantasy creature. Overall: 7 / 10 (would be 9/10 if not for unresolved bugs). Similar to the original in being a brutally unforgiving game. Unlike the original; the player can tell what is going on around them. The graphics, music, gameplay, and algorithms are SIGNIFICANTLY improved. Wizardry is not a game for all people. It's not really a game for most people. But for the niche few of us out there who enjoy an 'olde-timey' dungeon...
