As some of you may have noticed, Super House Of Dead Ninjas is back from the dead thanks to Bitmap Bureau, which is the studio that Mike (the designer / programmer) formed after Megadev. We've now been able to take back control of the game, meaning it's now available to buy once again on Steam. This game came before its time. It feels absolutely amazing in your hands on controller. Reminiscent of an old vania style game that you would play at the arcade but with quality of life and gameplay improvements that make it very enjoyable for the modern age. I got into SHoDN back in 201X and decided to dust it off in 2026 for another spin. I have some negative nitpicks about some aspects of the game's design and unlocks (game is sorta old and it's whatever), but overall, this is an arcade-y classic for sure. The "in the zone" feel you get from descending the tower while keeping your rage meter filled is super addicting. The visuals are also really cool. Now, listen...

The game may not be for me but for people who like the fast paced platformer genre i can't deny that they would probably love this game. It's difficult but also very satisfying if you can get a good clean run in.

Could have been a fun game without the timer punishing actually looking at the scenery and observing surroundings. Pass.
