Sonic Superstars is almost there; it's so close to being a good 2D Sonic game but has some bad design choices that stopped me from wanting to finish it fully. It plays well, to be fair. It feels like the Mega Drive games and the more recent Sonic Mania. Look, this game had potential. But they really ruined the entire experience of playing this game with the bosses. There are WAY too many bosses, many times each level has a boss. But then even worse many of the bosses are invincible for WAY too long. You’ll have bosses that it can take over a minute for it to cycle through its attacks and provide any opening.
