Development Update [September 2026]
2026-09-29Dear Manufacturers, Today I wanted to show you what I’ve been working on besides fixing bugs and holes in the code. In 2025, I first showed the concept of a map with quests, but at the time I wasn’t sure how to connect it with the factory gameplay. Now I have more details, and I’d like to tell you about the system I’ve come up with. City map with hexagonal tiles The new map is a board made up of hexagonal tiles representing cities. The player will start with a factory in one city, while rival factories will appear in others. The goal will be to capture market share across the map by gaining influence in more cities and competing with other manufacturers. Pieces on the tiles will represent different city functions:

• Factories will represent the player’s base and those of their rivals. In the future, players will be able to buy shares in rival factories to take them over and eliminate the competition, or use their production capacity to gain control of the map. These quests will be based on the number of cities under the player’s control. • Ordinary buildings will offer quests related to car production. Completing them will increase your reputation and unlock access to more cities on the map. If a rival gains an advantage in a city, it will become harder for you to sell cars there. Every car you sell will reduce that rival’s reputation. Different buildings will be associated with different factions offering quests. • The stadium will offer racing quests. Players will be able to enter rallies to increase their brand’s popularity and win trophies. Money alone won’t be enough for research: race victories will award points needed to unlock new cars. To enter a race, players will need a sports car and a team of mechanics and drivers. You won’t drive the car yourself. Instead, you’ll oversee the race and make simple decisions about tire changes, refueling, and when to push for speed. Work in progress I think this system will engage players and give car production a stronger purpose. It will also add a new layer of strategy. The different ways to take over the map and win races will bring much more excitement to Car Manufacture. For the first version, I plan to implement only these basic pieces, but I already have ideas for many other activities that could be added to the game as new pieces with their own quests. When will it be ready? I’d like to start testing before Christmas this year, but I’ll share more details once the system is up and running. In the meantime, join us on our official Discord server to chat, share ideas, and connect with the community. Best wishes, and thank you all for your tremendous support. dev
