Putting the Super back in Super Fancy Pants Adventures This may feel like a minor update, but it's been a Herculean effort from Brad to get everything running smoothly again on a nearly 9 year old game. Back when it released, Flash was still being supported by Adobe! You can imagine how some stability and performance would be lost over time. As Brad recently summed up, I had to update almost everything to get Super FPA working And that's putting it lightly... Every new fix seemed to break something else. Visual bugs emerged ALL over. Random animations were playing at triple speed. Assets needed new caching methods. There was a cascade of changes that I don't think even Brad initially intended to tackle. I recently had a call with Brad, where he gave some insight into how he's restructured both Super and the Classic Pack. This should open up new possibilities for Super, simplify remastering World 3 for the Classic Pack, and opens up incredible new possibilities for the franchise! UPDATES • Integration of the Classic Pack's improved level loading (MUCH faster!!) • New SteamInput implementation to allow for much wider gamepad support options • Upgrade to 4k level assets • Massive optimizations for improved performance • Things should feel even more smooth and responsive than before! • Hat, pants textures and other objects moved to GPU rendering • Overall asset loading improvements, including dynamic sprite packing • Solid color backgrounds are not rendered as triangulated polygon meshes, rather than wasting space in giant spritesheets • Uncapped FPS!! • Probably other things??? Brad also took this opportunity to tackle some art touch-ups he's always wanted to put more time into! This includes painting away some visible seams in later levels, and minor decorative changes. FIXES The game was pretty well taken apart and reassembled. I lost track of specific fixes a long time ago as new builds were being iterated upon. In Brad's own words back in early February I’m pretty confident the beta is at least more stable than retail right now. But please do let us know if you encounter any new bugs as a result of this update! I've been playing these games for 20 years, and I haven't grown tired of them yet. Publishing this series is a role I don't take the role lightly.
