I stopped thinking much about plot or anythign else - if you watched anime in the past two decades, there are anime which go off in a tangent that obliterates any logic completely (even by anime standards). Since I've got that off my chest, this is an old game (I think) and there are branching storylines. But the lack of achievements made me give me replaying it after twice.
