In Tokyo’s popular ”Electric Town” district, Akihabara, vampires called “Synthisters” walk among us. You must identify and dispose of them the only way you know how – by engaging them in hand-to-hand combat in order to strip them of their clothes so their bodies melt away in the sunlight.

Imagine censoring a game nearly a decade later, and in your foolish quest to placate an ultra tiny number of angry social media no lifers, you break the game and make it unplayable without modification. Thankfully there are ways around this, but screw XSeed for making me do it. Long gone are the days where they were holding up the PSP by giving us great translations of the Ys games. Rest in piss.

This game has a lot of negative aspects, but if you catch it on sale it can still be fun. These are the main issues: Reliance on aggressive post-processing effects The PC version is based on the PS4 port, which uses a heavy amount of aggressive post-processing effects that you can’t fully disable. Wonderful getaway into a civilized, modern, sunny summer in Japan. Casual action gameplay with some stat grinding. Story is alright. Multiple endings. Though takes a bit of attention to trigger obscure ones. Dialogues and characters are cheesy but fit the overall setting. Warning: DLCs and latest release are not worth it.
