From here, the series goes downhill imo. If you want to play any of these games alone, play the first. And if you wanna play OMD with a friend, play the 2nd. I still don't think this game deserves a negative review, cause it's not terrible. The 2nd is just better. So buy this if you want more of what you enjoyed in the 2nd, and you'll get an okay-ish version for more of the same type of gameplay.

very fun even playing solodolo good nostalgia to the first two orcs must die this & dungeon defenders (1) are the best tower defence games if you don’t count Warcraft 3 custom games

This is one of my favorite games of all time, I would watch my dad play this series when I was little and I'm glad to be here now. If you love trapping and slaughtering thousands of ruthless orcs, this is the one for you!
