Development Update
2025-09-30I got stuck on trying to add multiplayer. I originally had steam multiplayer fully implemented in the old version of the game that was on UE4, but getting that to work in UE5 hasn't been anywhere near as smooth for me. For now, I'm giving up on adding multiplayer. BUT there will be a pretty substantial update soon. Currently focused on fixing and expanding what I originally implemented. I've learned a lot through side projects in all this time and my struggles with multiplayer, so I have a lot that I'm currently working on improving in terms of how the game actually runs, how it feels, pretty much the whole game.

In good news, I also have a pretty good idea of where I aim to take the game now. I originally had a rough idea, I knew what I wanted it to be like, but not exactly how I wanted it to be. I've sorted that out and I have a decent idea of the core game loop I plan to build. It's not set in stone though, I know the core of it, and once I push everything onto steam, I'm hoping that people will have lots of ideas of what they would want to add to that too. Still allowing for a lot of flexibility in development based on feedback. As it is, the game is in a much better place than it used to be, when I first uploaded it. However, there's still a lot of work that both needs to be done, and that I want to do to the game. My planned upgrades/implementations for the next update; • Backend engine stuff • General smoothness of gameplay • UI improvements (A complete overhaul) • Audio still needs a lot of work (less of a focus for me rn) • More progression (a goal, something you need to do) • a fail state (there's already health/thirst/hunger. These might be replaced but either way, it'll be possible to "lose") • A name change, Surviving Isolation will no longer be Surviving Isolation multiplayer is still planned for the future, I just want to move on from that for now and fix/improve/add to the game as it is currently
