Wasteland 2: Director's Cut Modding Support Update

2016-01-11

Today, we have a new update for Wasteland 2: Director's Cut on PC. This brings the first release of our long-awaited modding support to the game. This mod support allows for users, among other things, to change and override template and prefab files used in the game. We invite any interested community members to read up on our mod support guide by our Technical Director John Alvarado, and check out our Community Content forums for Wasteland 2 for further discussion.

Never played the OG Wasteland, or non-Director's Cut of Wasteland 2. From what I read, the original release of W2 was very poorly balanced and with worse graphics. For example, energy weapons did much more damage to people in armor. 'Cooking them inside it' was the rationale. This made all armor so detrimental that it was better not to wear any at all. Director's Cut isn't that balanced either, to be honest, and...

Rough and clanky, but still enjoyable experience in 2026. Strongly recommended to use community unofficial patch for QoL improvements and some fixes. Hardest difficulty pushes you to embrace imbalance in weapons/builds, but you can enjoy any build/weapon in others.
