it's missing everything that made the first game good, the gunplay took a serious downgrade, the hud is obnoxious and the writing is godawful and cringy, the atmosphere is completely gone, and the story is weak (they retconned both expansions of the first game in favor of this abomination)

I really don't have a single complaint about the gameplay or the game in general. The story is interesting, the enemies are exciting, the graphics and details are very good for that time, there are no bugs or technical problems. For me, this is the best sequel to the F.E.A.R. franchise so far. My recommendation is to play the game first as a tourist on Easy and collect all the slow-mo boosters you can find, then...
