2026-09-24Feedback Document:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/181XJdypLrqmH7_XLNXtuljfNafG7J2HQCtFD5E54tjE/edit?pli=1#gid=1698557684 Due to the extensive content of the multiplayer mod, this announcement will be a bit lengthy. PS: Based on feedback, many issues encountered in the current test are caused by not uninstalling Workshop mods. At this stage, the multiplayer mod only supports cosmetic mods. Compatibility with other mods will take some time to fully implement. Dear Investigators, please ensure you clear all Workshop mods before participating in the test! ※ To our beloved non-Chinese-speaking players: Currently, manual localization for this mod has not yet begun. The in-game text is temporarily filled by machine translation. We will officially start the localization process once mod testing and maintenance are complete. Hi Investigators~

The large-scale free multiplayer mod "Heart of the Fog City" for Depersonalization is now in beta! We welcome all interested investigators to try it out~ This test will run until November. During this period, we’ll actively fix bugs and stabilize the build, aiming for an official release in December. This announcement covers: • Multiplayer Mod Beta Introduction • How to participate • Save backup • Quick guide • Common issues • Multiplayer Mod FAQ • Player count, cross-platform compatibility, mid-game join/leave, etc. 1. Multiplayer Mod Beta Introduction This mod is adapted from FogCoffee’s London Core of Steam, supporting up to three players in co-op. Single-player mode is also fully playable. ● Save Backup The test branch shares save files with the official branch, so you don’t need a new character. But for safety: PLEASE back up your local saves—otherwise, you might lose them! Backup tutorial ↓↓ • Click the "Save" button in the lower-left corner of the game's main menu. • In the open folder, click on the "MeowNature" in the path bar to go back to the parent folder. • Compress the "Depersonalization-Release" folder. You can use any compression software—just make sure it can create a packaged file. If you've done this before, rename the new package for easier identification. • To restore your save after testing: Launch the game, and once at the main menu (do not click "Start Game"), navigate to the save folder. Then, extract and replace the "Depersonalization-Release" folder with your backup. (Since the game is running, this won’t conflict with cloud saves.) After backing up, you can enter the test branch! ● How to Participate All PC Depersonalization owners can join. (Mobile cross-play is not available yet.) Steps: • Switch to the test branch: • Right-click the game in your Steam Library → Properties → Betas • Enter code: rgjtnetwork2026, then select \ • Join the mod in-game: • From the main menu, click Multiplayer Lobby → Create Room ● Quick Guide • Session Prep: After confirming character sheets, gather at the 2nd floor to start. • Team Actions: Trade items, duel (?), etc. • View Toggle: Bottom-right button to see allies’ positions. ● Common Issues • Servers: • Local = LAN • Steam = Steam-login only • KCP = Future official server (enables mobile/PC cross-play) • Host Controls: Room settings (privacy, player cap), save/load (host-only, requires unanimous consent). • Economy: Money converts at 10:1 (mod’s 1000 = normal 10000). Max carry: 1500 pennies (you’re a broke detective). • Quests: Progress requires all tracking players to be present. Use Join/Cancel Track to adjust. 2. Multiplayer Mod FAQ Q: Is Heart of the Fog City the promised 8th mod? Is it free? A: Yes, it’s the 8th mod—free for all owners. Q: Why a public test? Weren’t you launching in October? A: Two reasons: • Multiplayer dev was way harder (original code was single-player; we’ve fixed 500+ bugs). • Limited marketing budget—saving the push for December. Q: Is this the full content? What issues might we see? A: Full content, but expect tweaks. Player creativity will break things—we’ll patch fast. Q: How many players? Do friends need the game? A: 3 players max (requires Depersonalization). Future cap: 12 (post-combat fixes). Q: Can we replay/mid-join? A: Replay via Load Save—but no new players can join mid-session. Q: Mobile/PC cross-play? A: Post-launch, yes. Not in this test. Q: Can we use existing investigators/mods? A: Yes, but scripted mods may crash. Recommended: vanilla characters for testing. Q: Is solo/newbie-friendly? Does difficulty scale? A: Easy-mode features exist, but combat’s WIP. Difficulty doesn’t scale—feedback welcome! Q: Will unclear mechanics (enemy revive/lock HP) get tips? A: Yes—combat hints are still being added. Q: Will resource shortages/annoying item handling improve? A: Economy balancing hasn’t started yet. Expect updates. Q: What if we miss key plot points? A: Some are WIP, but no hints for secrets—explore more! Q: Can teammates accidentally ruin progress? A: Plot items can’t be sold. Choices may add hurdles but won’t soft-lock others. Q: Why do new characters’ animations look stiff? A: Switched to Spine rigs for NPC efficiency. Glaring issues will be fixed; minor ones may stay. Q: Will awkward dialogue be polished? A: Report it! We’ll tweak phrasing—this is a slow, feedback-driven process.
